I had heard the words “self-empathy” before, but didn’t really know what that was like until I saw it from you. I was in your office in San Mateo and you gave me the giraffe pillow to hold to my chest and helped me to realize what the experience of self-empathy really is. That was like the one little sweet drop I needed. Over the last year, my awareness of self-empathy has expanded. I’ve been practicing so much self-empathy, and I’m finding that I’m having so much more empathy for others as a result. I’m seeing that empathy (for myself or others) is so much “easier” than getting defensive, taking it personally, giving advice, pushing it away, etc. Thank you for giving me that gift…it has had a huge impact on my life.
